About this Exploration: Milo, a grain sorghum, pictured beyond the trees in the foreground, will be harvested in the fall. The brown field to the north has been drilled with hard red winter wheat. Farmers like their wheat to grow into green fields before winter, come out of dormancy in early spring, grow more and finally turn golden ripe in June. They prefer to be done harvesting by the 4th of July!
Wilson can be seen in the distance on north 105 Road, better known to locals as the "River Road" because we take it out to the Smoky Hill River.
Wilson is primarily agricultural and at one time Wilson boasted at least four grain elevators. Two remaining elevators, Soukup Grain and Kyner Elevator, have since closed in a large part due to larger trucks and semi-trailers hauling to terminals.
