About this Exploration:
Pay your respect to our nation's veterans with a visit to the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. You can find it right off I-70 at Exit 128, then north 1/2 mile.
The cemetery is attractively landscaped with a rolling hill effect. The drive through the cemetery is adorned with flags, which makes an impressive view and a fitting memorial for those who have served our country.
The cemetery staff offers tours of the cemetery and shares information about the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery program. They are dedicated to assisting our veterans' and their families. The staff believes that all veterans deserve to be interred with dignity, respect, and honor for their service. They also give flag-folding demonstrations and organize special services for Memorial Day, Veterans' Day, and Wreaths Across America. Wreaths Across America is celebrated on the second Saturday in December. The snow makes a beautiful backdrop for the dark green wreaths decorated with bright red bows that are laid on each veterans' grave. This special support and recognition to those that have served our country remain on the graves until the end of January.
Schedule a tour or stop by the cemetery for a visit. The office is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Summer months Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-4 p.m. The front gates of the cemetery are open until dusk, seven days a week. This final resting place for veterans reminds them that America will never forget.
