The annual Highway 36 Treasure hunt is a border to boarder flea market/garage sale. Being located halfway between Colorado and  Missouri on U.S. 36 makes Smith Center a great place to stop, get a good meal and spend the night. This is held the third weekend of September.

 

Old Settlers Day is a special event held the fourth Saturday of September every year. There is a parade, the Prairie Dog Saloon, food vendors and fun for all ages.  New in 2014 a Barbeque Cook off!

 

If you are a fisherman Smith Center is just a hop, skip and a jump to 4 fabulous fishing lakes including Glen Elder, Harlan County Lake, Kirwin Reservoir and Lovewell Lake.

 

Enjoy the Historic Homes walking tour which includes the historic County Courthouse and the Old Dutch Mill.
