About this Exploration: As you travel through Phillipsburg on U.S. Hwy 183 or Hwy 36, be sure and plan for a stop at this memorial. Dedicated in 2007, this monument honors all veterans, regardless of branch of service or war or peacetime service. Planned and designed by a local resident, this monument was not only to honor her husband, but all other Phillips County residents who served our country. The stone for this monument was ordered from Africa and etched by an artist who lives in Stockton, Kansas. This memorial was funded through the generous donations of the Albert & Leona Morgan, A.W. & Nellie Armstrong and the Dane G. Hansen Foundations.
This memorial stands proudly between two flag poles in front of the Phillips County Courthouse. The flags symbolize the sacrifices made by service men and women from the Phillips County. Etched on this memorial is the American flag with an eagle in flight.
This memorial is highlighted during the Holiday season with red, white and blue lights on the blue spruce trees adjoining the memorial.
