About this Exploration: Jerry and Marcia Huffman donated land to the City of Osage City with the understanding it would be used as a public park. And so it is. Two of our parks are memorial parks and bring comfort to many. Something in each was constructed in memory of young men who passed at young ages but they continue to make an impact on Osage City and its people. A shelterhouse, grill, and tables can be used for group gatherings. To ensure the use of the shelterhouse on a specific date, reservations should be made through the city offices. 785.528.3714.
The love of fishing and sports, make this park the perfect place for our annual fishing derby, a place and time for parents and children to bond over a quiet, leisurely activity. The event is held the first or second weekend in May. The pond is well-stocked by Kansas Wildlife and Parks.
Kids age 14 and younger should bring your fishin' poles and at least one parent or grandparent. Worms are provided by the joint efforts of the sponsors of the Fishing Derby (Lions Club and Conrad Carlson Memorial). Contact Butch Carlson for details, 785.528.3615.
