About this Exploration: In the center of town at 5th and Main Streets, cross the foot bridge that spans the goldfish pond in Santa Fe Park. Enjoy the flowers and trees throughout the park. The goldfish pond was lovingly built in memory of a young man who passed away at a young age. See if you can find a stone in the shape of a broken heart. It came that way in the construction rocks and was engraved and placed near the pond. The flowers and the gold fish are lovingly tended by his friends, family, PRIDE and other volunteers.
Repose from the moment's worries under the historic gazebo in Santa Fe Park where the 'old men' used to sit and thrash over the daily events.
For a more secluded setting, visit in the northern square gazebo. Sadly, again, it was erected in memory of yet another young man who tragically died, just before he was to begin serving our country.
Many community events are held in and around the Santa Fe Park. It has a handy shelterhouse available for those who choose to play, read, or lunch casually under the shelter. Public restrooms are found here.
For larger, more formal events (weddings, reunions, arts/crafts), reservations for the use of the kitchenette and shelter should be made by contacting the city, 785.528.3714.
