Stan Herd's Mural in Ness City Kansas, depicts Ness City as is was in the 1870's and 1890's, featuring pictures of the railroad being bulit, the construction of the Ness County Bank Building, the Calhoun Boarding House, the Floyd and Floyd Building, ranch houses, Churches and downtown scenes from days gone by.

Herd has painted many murals on buildings in western Kansas and has depicted the Kansas Byways in oil paintings. Stan Herd is the preeminent representational earthworks artist in the world. Herd was born in 1950 into a farming family in Protection, Kansas.
