People in Ness County love an excuse to get together, whether it involves sitting around and enjoying each others company or participating in many of the events held during the Ness County Old Settlers' Reunion. This unique event takes place once every five years and welcomes any visitor/traveler that are curious about our heritage.

 

The first OSR was held in 1901 to celebrate the 21st year of the founding of Ness City and to promote social relations among those who settled the County. Old settlers living in Ness County were reminded that to make the 1901 celebration a complete success "it will be essential that the baskets be not only of liberal dimensions but that they be packed to overflowing and let the contents be of the character befitting the occasion." This philosophy has been the backbone of the OSR for the past 135 years.

The reunion continues to be held once every 5 years, with the only exceptions being 1945 because of World War II when it was postponed to 1946.

June 4, 5, and 6, 2015 will mark the 135th Anniversary of the first Ness County Old Settlers' Reunion.
