About this Exploration:

When the railroad reached Minneapolis in 1878, Adolf Bloch brought his new bride to the end of the line and started a dry goods store. He named the business the Bee Hive, as was an earlier store operated by his brother in Eureka, Kansas. He later renamed the company "A.Bloch". His brown stone building now houses Robertson Monuments.

Why am I telling you this? Adolf Bloch is the grandfather of Richard Bloch...as in H & R Bloch! The income tax giants have roots right here in Minneapolis, Kansas! Adolph and Carrie Bloch lived in Minneapolis for 12 years. Some of his advertisements claimed "A.Bloch, Destroyer of the High Prices" and "We Mean What We Say, and Don't You Forget It."

Robertson Monuments sits at the corner of Second (main) Street and Concord in downtown Minneapolis. Chris and Hallee Gorrell invite you to visit them at 300 West Second Street. Calling 785.392.3097 first is recommended, as their work takes them out of the shop frequently.
