So You Think You Know Kansas History!!!
The Territorial Capital Museum building was originally designed to be the State Capital of Kansas. Construction began in 1855 and was abandoned in 1857 when it became apparent the capital would be located elsewhere. In 1882, the historic building was finally completed and operated as Lane University, a United Brethren in Christ Church school, until 1902. Later, it served as Lecompton Rural High School.
The museum contains three floors of artifacts covering early Kansas and Lecompton history and genealogy. All floors are handicapped accessible.
