About this Exploration:

Barnard Library was built in 1937 for Howard Barnard, La Crosse’s most interesting character.   His long gray beard and forbidding manner frightened small children who forgot to wipe their feet before they entered the library, but he was a dedicated scholar whose lifetime goal was to bring books and enlightenment to the pioneers who settled the plains. 

Check out a book, observe the high-ceiling space with big windows, and visit with the three fabulous librarians, Linda, Rosie, and Eleanor.
