Kelly Sigg toyed with the idea of opening a shop in Iola in 2010.  The shop originally opened in a small space where they soon ran out of space! With customers from all different towns and locations they moved a few doors down to find more room to grow!

"We carry a little bit of everything,” Sigg said. "New arrivals come in every day.”
Social media has been a big help in Sigg’s business and you can find them on their Facebook page. Employees model clothing once a week and post it on the store’s Facebook page, Instagram and email list.

Audacious launched its website www.shopaudacious.com and sales continued to grow!  Customers can view the clothing and accessories and have it reserved or purchase it online.

Customer service is a main priority. Iola is lucky that U.S. Highway 54 runs through downtown and many of her customers drive through and stop to shop. On Saturdays, out-of-town shoppers make a beeline to the little boutique that carries a lot of brands you find in the larger cities, but it’s priced lower, which folks love! 

 

While inside the store take a look around for the old antique safe located in one of the corners.  Even if the store is closed you can look inside and see the old bank vault.  Last opened in 1974 the old safe has a long history for Iola.  The safe, which held Iola State Bank’s overnight repository for decades, is expected to be empty, however, at times it held as much as $20,000, $30,000, or maybe as much as $40,000 for depositors of Allen County!  Despite many attempts the safe is frozen closed and hasn't been opened for over 40 years.  The picture above shows a local Iola citizen (who worked at that very bank years ago) trying to open the safe.  She was unsuccessful and its contents are still a mystery!
