Iola Band ConcertsAddress:
1 W. Madison Avenue
Email Address: lauradarla@cox.net About this Exploration: Instead of wearing the 1820s style of fomal wear... comfortably walk into a Norman Rockwell painting every summer with ice cream socials, families on blankets and townsfolk in lawn chairs as the city band plays every Thursday night from 8 p.m to 9 p.m. from the last Thursday of May until the last Thursday in July. Band members range from young to very mature, and fellowship is shared by all who attend.
Established in 1867 and consecutive since 1871, the Iola Municipal Band continues to entertain with its series of Thursday evening summer concerts at the historic bandstand in the courthouse square. Below is a painting of the Iola Bandstand done by locally well-known artist Gary Hawk.
This all takes place on the northwest corner of the largest courthouse square in America with the Iola Farmers Market located on the southwest corner at 5:30 p.m. (just prior to concert time!)
Thursday, June 5 will be the first band concert, and they will be every Thursday from then until the last Thursday of July.
Come join the beautiful music, the neat crowd, and just enjoy an old fashion summer.
As part of the many years the band has performed, the Allen County Historical Museum will have a historic window to depict the history of the band concerts.
