Standing in the center of the town square, the Barton County Courthouse is a fine example of Modern (Classical) Eclecticism.  Designed by W.E. Hulse & Co., Hutchinson, the building was completed in 1918.  Every year there is a Christmas celebration that begins with a parade ending at the Courthouse area and afterwards there is the Mayor's Christmas tree lighting followed by kids visiting santa in his "home" just right next to the Courthouse. There is also a skating rink located between the courthouse and bandstand every year.

 

The public can see the Courthouse, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.  Notice the beautiful marble flooring and stairs.
