Happy Birthday Kansas!!!  Kansas will be turning 150 years old in 2011.  In order to honor the state, the Kansas Barn Alliance is encouraging that a barn in every county be painted with the sesquicentennial barn logo.  

 

The first Kansas 150 birthday mural is painted on the Stone Barn, 1/2 mile north of Dexter on K-15.  A project of the Kansas Barn Alliance, the mural features a Kansas version of Mount Rushmore including the likenesses of Robert Docking, Amelia Earhart, Dwight Eisenhower and Bob Dole.  Augusta artist Kerry Unrein painted the impressive art work. 

 

The mural can be seen on the south side of the historic 1887 stone barn.
