1887 Stone Barn
Email Address: email@example.com
About this Exploration:
This 1878 stone barn holds a wonderful gift and antique shop. The stone was quarried 10 miles north of the site and transported to the location by horse and wagon. The family then lived in the barn while they built an impressive rock home across the road - which was completed in 1880. The original structure of the barn is held together using the mortise and tenon method or "pegged" together. There are no nails in the original structure.
Last fall, an interesting mural was painted on the roof to commemorate the 150th birthday of Kansas.
Open Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday 1-5 p.m.; or by appointment, 620.876.3467.
