Topeka Ave. Burlingame, KS 66413 Telephone Number: 785.654.3851 Website: About this Exploration: A new Methodist Episcopal Church was being built in Burlingame in 1908 and was to be dedicated January 10, 1909. In September 1908, a contract was sent to the Estey Organ factory for an A2 organ with AC motor for $2,000, signed by president and secretary of the Ladies Aid Society of the church. The Ladies Aid Society was to pay for the organ. The Opus #635 was designed per requirements by this church with wings on the sides to the back of the organ and an electric blower to be placed in the basement. Organ features include: Great - 8 Open Diapason, 8 Melodia, 8 Dulciana, 4 Octave, Sw to Gt 8 & 4 Swell - 8 Stopped Diapason, 8 Salicional, 4 Flute Harmonic, 8 Oboe, Tremolo Pedal - 16 Bourdon, Gt to Ped 8, Sw to Ped 8 Special Features - Haskell patented stopkey action, Tubular pneumatic, originally hand pumped The organ was installed in February 1909 shortly after the new church was completed. An organ recital was given at the dedication of the new church. This church later combined with the Baptist and Presbyterian congregation in 1948 to become the Federated Church. On February 2009, the Federated Church in Burlingame celebrated 100 years of service for the Estey Opus #635 Pipe Organ. The re-dedication ceremony included organ music by past and present organists and a special recital by award-winning organist Elisa Bickers. The organ is still in use and can be seen at the Federated Church. Open Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sunday 9 a.m.-11 a.m. during Sunday Services. Find This Exploration!
