About this Exploration:  Since their opening in 2006, Mainstreet Mercantile has touted that they have “everything but the kitchen sink”. And since their stock changes from week to week, they may even have that!
Located in downtown Burlingame, the store is fashioned after the general store of yesteryear with a large selection of items including lightly-used furniture, artwork, linens, dishware, appliances, children’s clothes and toys, books and more. But this is no ordinary thrift store – they boast a charming décor along with great selection and prices. Located in the historic Beverly Hardware Store, the exterior is richly painted in jewel-tones of topaz, sapphire, ruby and amethyst. Rustic stars and shutters provide charming accents to the building and an over-sized entrance door with antique-scrolled lettering calls out "Welcome" to the passerby. But what keeps customers coming back is the reasonably priced merchandise in good, clean condition smartly displayed in coordinated arrangements with a touch of whimsy here and there. You’ll want to take two laps around to make sure you didn’t miss anything! Mainstreet Mercantile – Where you’ll find everything but the kitchen sink!
